This workshop will be 21 hours towards your CPD, and you will receive a certificate of attendance shortly after the workshop via email. Handouts, including a pdf of slide content, will be sent to you before the start of the workshop.

There will be no formal registration. You will be placed in a waiting room once you click on the link and the CMF Team will add you to the meeting.

This workshop is priced at a flat rate of £325.00. For those in difficult financial circumstances, who may struggle to afford this price, please contact hello@compassionatemind.co.uk

The Compassionate Mind Foundation will shortly begin its third year of running a one-year British Psychological Society approved Diploma. This Diploma facilitates in depth learning in Compassion Focused Therapy with international trainers and with regular supervision. The diploma begins with a three-day, in depth exploration of CFT with its founder, Professor Paul Gilbert.

Due to popular interest and demand we would like to open this first workshop to those with some experience of CFT, and at least 3 years post qualification experience working in the capacity of psychology, counselling or psychotherapy. You will be joining the current cohort of trainees.

This workshop will

Explore evolutionary, biopsychosocial, brain state and integrative approaches to mental health difficulties and intervention, and the nature of compassion including insight into the biopsychosocial effects of compassion cultivation on mental health and prosocial behaviour

Outline how the three challenges of life (to protect, acquire resources-control, and rest) are linked to three types of emotion regulation and how compassion motivation can harmonise these systems

Outline the basic algorithm of compassion as 1. Being sensitive to distress and suffering in self and others and; 2. working out how to be helpful. These are supported with competencies such as empathy, distress tolerance, and behavioural engagement.

How compassion processing is linked to attachment systems and how they are recruited into therapeutic interventions
